Social Prescription and Music program for Health
The Centre for Music and Health is seeking unpaid interns to help with a participatory arts program. The intern will be working with A/Prof Kat Agres and other members of the Centre for Music and Health team to brainstorm how the program might fit into a social prescription framework.

Research Assistant
The Centre for Music and Health is inviting applications for the role of a full-time Research Assistant. This role is offered with a 1-year contract; renewal (for a period of 6 or 18 months) may be possible, and is subject to satisfactory job performance. The RA will contribute to a project in which our CMH team, in collaboration with external partners, will be developing an Arts/Heritage and Health Evaluation Toolkit (AHET). The toolkit will provide tools and scales that may be used by artist and musician practitioners, as well as community/gov't stakeholders, to evaluate the impact of arts and heritage activities on health and well-being. The RA will be involved in literature reviews, manuscript writing, the publication process, and the development and design of the actual digital AHET. The RA would also assist with an online workshop, as well as the public launch of the toolkit. The RA may also be invited to liaise with community stakeholders to help with the dissemination and use of the toolkit.
Responsibilities
Conduct literature reviews, systematically synthesize and distill information, contribute to manuscript writing
Assist with creation of an Arts/Heritage and Health Evaluation Toolkit (AHET)
Reach out to and work with community and government stakeholders, artist and musician practitioners and arts/heritage organizations
Assist with workshop, AHET launch, and dissemination of AHET
Assist in developing content for AHET website
Oversee training of CMH Student Assistants, Volunteers, and Research Interns as needed
Assist with writing up, communicating and disseminating findings/results (in conferences, popular science forums, blogs, social media, etc) as appropriate
Qualifications
A recognised degree in Psychology, Public Health, Medicine, or another area of relevance to Arts/Heritage or Health/Wellbeing
At least 1 year of prior research experience
Excellent English speaking and writing skills, and academic/research abilities
Some background experience in arts/heritage and/or health-related areas is strongly desired
Experience with empirical research experimental design, data collection and analysis is strongly desired
Good organisational skills, and able to juggle multiple tasks concurrently
Able to work independently, but also a good team player
Adaptable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Position available from June 2024
1 year contract, with possible extension up to an additional 6 months to 18 months

Administrative Staff

Responsibilities
Liaise with different central offices of NUS such as finance, procurement, development, and research offices
Prepare paperwork for NUS Finance
Prepare letters of agreement, contracts, and payment forms for facilitators (internal or external to NUS), part-time researchers, and external hires
Facilitate research collaboration agreement contracts and related paperwork between CMH, research collaborators and NUS IEP department
Assist CMH director with timely submission of grantors’ reports and other grant paperwork
Handle YST room bookings for meetings and research studies
Provide administrative support to the research team at CMH, and help in ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and grant terms and conditions
Liaise with YST communications team to update CMH social media channels
Liaise with vendors and external organisations for ad-hoc engagements of our flagship music programmes
Other ad-hoc duties assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications
Past experience in admin is desired
Independent, adaptable, and able to work well in a team
Ability to use Canva for design and social media management is a plus

Student Research Assistant
(4 weeks)
The Centre for Music and Health (CMH) at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM) is collaborating with The National Foundation of Kidney (NKF) to evaluate the impact of music intervention on dialysis patients. This study aims to compare the impact of live music and pre-recorded music on patients’ quality of life and mental health. Research Assistants will help with consent taking and data collection at two dialysis centres, Site 1 (500 Corporation road), and Site 2 (326 Clementi Ave 5). The Research Assistants will report to the study sites to conduct consent taking and collect data during morning sessions and afternoon sessions, weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 27 May through 22 June. Each session will last 2-3 hours, and the sessions are expected to take place between 8am - 4pm (note there will be a break for lunch). In addition, the RAs will need to attend a briefing session on 21/23 May (likely to be held on the NUS campus). Because the study takes place at clinical (dialysis) centers, the Research Assistants must be properly vaccinated with Tdap within the past 10 years, and have 2 doses of MMR. Vaccination can be provided at UHC for those who do not have the required shots, with the costs born by CMH. (Please note that the two MMR shots have to be 4 weeks apart.)
Responsibilities
Attend 1 briefing/training session and 1 prep meeting at YST on 21 and/or 23 May
Complete a CITI training module covering consent taking (available through NUS CITI website)
Conduct consent taking and data collection with dialysis patients (Mon, Tue, Fri, and Sat each week between 27 May - 22 Jun 2024)
Assist the CMH team with the preparation of materials for questionnaires Note: It is compulsory to attend ALL the sessions, including the briefing/training session, prep meeting, and all data collection sessions
Requirements
The candidate should exhibit the following:
Comfortable speaking in English -and- fluent in either Hokkien, Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil. (Note: please indicate which is your second language on your application submission!)
